The ‘unpublished’ collections mainly consist of manuscripts and archives, pictures, and oral history and folklore recordings. The Library houses, describes and manages these separately from the ‘published’ collections, although special formed collections, web archives, maps, music and rare books also contain some ‘unpublished.
Manuscript collections The Library’s manuscript collections are some of the richest and most significant in Australia. Dating from the seventeenth century through to the present day, they comprise the personal papers of individuals and the archives of private organisations and businesses.
The Special Collections include approximately 1, linear feet of manuscript materials. Most of the collection consists of personal manuscripts of Academy alumni; however some non-graduate papers are also included.
The collections also contain published sources such as books, maps, photographs and ephemera.
